Distribution Characteristics of Microbial Residues within Aggregates of Fluvo-Aquic Soil under Biochar Application

چکیده

The use of biochar as a soil amendment has substantial potential to enhance quality and carbon sequestration. However, the responses addition based on microbial residues are not well understood, particularly at aggregate level. Herein, two-year field experiment investigated characteristics distribution in calcareous fluvo-aquic aggregates (SA) Henan Province, China. Four treatments were established follows: no fertilizer (CK), chemical (NPK), (BC), combined with (NPK + BC). results showed that effects particle size substantially impacted 2–0.25 mm SA having largest contents amino sugars residual (MRC), followed by >2 SA. Compared CK, NPK treatment markedly enhanced levels glucosamine (GluN), galactosamine (GalN), muramic acid (MurA), total sugar (TAS), MRC 26.69%, 24.0%, 23.62%, 25.11%, 24.82%, respectively. BC significantly increased GluN, GalN, TAS, bulk 0.25–0.053 compared treatment. Bacterial biomass activity N-acetyl-glucosaminidase positively affected content residues. Overall, microenvironments accumulation residues, application was more effective increasing SA, which provides an ideal fertilization strategy improve microenvironment quality.

Distribution of chromium contamination and microbial activity in soil aggregates.

Biogeochemical transformations of redox-sensitive chemicals in soils can be strongly transport-controlled and localized. This was tested through experiments on chromium diffusion and reduction in soil aggregates that were exposed to chromate solutions. Reduction of soluble Cr(VI) to insoluble Cr(II) occurred only within the surface layer of aggregates with higher available organic carbon and hi...

Linkage between N2O emission and functional gene abundance in an intensively managed calcareous fluvo-aquic soil

The linkage between N2O emissions and the abundance of nitrifier and denitrifier genes is unclear in the intensively managed calcareous fluvo-aquic soils of the North China Plain. We investigated the abundance of bacterial amoA for nitrification and narG, nirS, nirK, and nosZ for denitrification by in situ soil sampling to determine how the abundance of these genes changes instantly during N fe...

Effects of biochar amendment on soil aggregates and hydraulic properties

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of biochar amendment on soil aggregate formation and stability, and soil hydraulic properties. Biochar produced from dairy manure was added to two different soils (a silty clay and a sandy loam soil) at a ratio of 2% (w/w in dry weight basis). Incubation experiments were conducted within a 90-d period with the soils (the controls) and the soi...

Designer, acidic biochar influences calcareous soil characteristics.

In a proof-of-concept study, an acidic (pH 5.8) biochar was created using a low pyrolysis temperature (350 °C) and steam activation (800 °C) to potentially improve the soil physicochemical status of an eroded calcareous soil. Biochar was added at 0%, 1%, 2%, and 10% (by wt.) and soils were destructively sampled at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 month intervals. Soil was analyzed for gravimetric water con...
